Sport builds unity among people, all pushing towards the same goal. They may not have anything else in common besides the love of the game, and that alone draws them together. Like any relationship, sport teaches teamwork. An athlete is no longer an individual unit but part of a whole. Very importantly, sport teaches us to win and lose. It teaches us to work hard in order to reach our goals. It gives individuals mental grit, resilience, determination and the desire to achieve. These are all qualities that we, as a Trust, aim to instil in our young people. They are qualities which are valued above many others by Universities and employers and they are values which we hold dear.
Our aim is to use the GORSE Games to contribute to this. We want to create an environment where students strive to be better; to make the final place on a team; to knock half a second off their 1000 metre erg time; to push for that extra centimetre in the javelin. With this attitude, we consistently raise the bar. And that is exactly what we feel the GORSE Games can do for the GORSE community.
We value all support from our families and there is no doubt that your attendance at events and your encouragement from afar adds to students’ performances and helps give an even bigger adrenaline buzz!
