GORSE GETS HEALTHY

Volleyball update

Another successful weekend in the books for volleyball! We would like to send a MASSIVE thank you to The Ruth Gorse Academy and The Stephen Longfellow Academy for allowing us to host these big events and continuing to provide life changing opportunities for our students.

The England Men’s Volleyball team, the England Juniors and the Ireland Men’s Volleyball were all very impressed with the venue and hospitality along with the number of students who came to watch and support. They are very grateful for the space to train and play to prepare for upcoming competitions.

We also ran the final Yorkshire Junior training sessions at TSLA before Interregionals this coming weekend. We have some GREAT talent across Yorkshire this year and wish the best of luck to all students competing!

Additionally, the Leeds Gorse VC Awards Evening took place on Friday (adults) and Saturday (juniors) at The Ruth Gorse Academy.
Congratulations to the following students:

Portia Asante, TRGA – U15 Girls ‘Players’ Player’
Lauren Thorn, BA – U15 Girls ‘Most Improved’
Daniella Tchandeu, TRGA – U15 Girls ‘Coach’s Player’
Krystina Ngatcha, TRGA – U15 Girls ‘One to Watch’

Essay Mulubrhan, TRGA – U15 Boys ‘Most Improved’
Josh Cosgrove, TFA – U15 Boys ‘Coach’s Player’
Emmanuel Oretoye, TFA – U15 Boys ‘One to Watch’
Destiny Anderson, (EHC) – U18 Boys ‘One to Watch’

We also had a few students make their UK Beach Tour (UK BT) debut on Sunday at Bridlington. Well done to Daniella and Krystina as well as Josh Cosgrove who paired with Pete’s son and defeated several adult teams to make it to the semi-finals at his first UK BT event! We can’t wait to get to work on the incoming beach courts at TFA!
