GORSE GETS HEALTHY

The Gorse Volleyball Club has kicked off 2022 with a bang!

The Gorse Volleyball Club has kicked off 2022 with a bang!

First, we have welcomed new volleyball coach, Pete Makowski, who also has links with Leeds Gorse Volleyball Club, Yorkshire Volleyball, Skyball (beach volleyball) and the England Cadets! The students have enjoyed working with him alongside our head coach, Elaine Brown.
The fourth round of The Gorse Volleyball League has now taken place between TMA v BSA (2-1) and TRGA v BA (2-1). As a result, TMA, BSA and TFA all currently tied for first place! The focus is now on years 7, 8 and 9 in preparation for Gorse Games in April. We are also happy to report students from Gorse primaries are doing exceptionally well during PE lessons, extracurricular clubs and competitions as they have a had a head start with volleyball. They are frequently used to demonstrate drills or activities and are frontrunners to be selected for TGVL matches.
Approximately 40 Gorse students competed in the Volleyball England National Championships U18s, U16s and U15s Grand Prix, along with an additional 40 juniors from LGVC. This is the highest number of youth participation West Yorkshire has ever seen!
The U18s boys team defeated some of the toughest competition in the country and clenched first place putting them in the gold bracket next round! This team was led by an EHC student and TRGA alumni.

We are so pleased with the progress of The Gorse Volleyball Club and are looking forward to the training and competitions in February!
