On Saturday 7 September, The GORSE Boat Club took fourteen students from across the Trust, to the British Rowing Indoor Championships.  The event took place at the iconic Lee Valley Velo Park, home to the 2012 Olympic cycling events.  The standard at this event is growing annually, with several records being set throughout the day, and our success there is a testament to the hard work and support of academies and PE staff, most notably Mr Bilton and Mr Harding, who have worked extremely hard recruiting and nurturing talent in their individual academies.

The day was a tremendous success, with medals in the School Games as well as Year 7 and 9 events.  Outstanding performances came from both Year 7 boys, Luke (TFA) and Kuba (TMA) and from Kadie (TMA) in her Year 9 girls event; Rosie (TMA) finished a very close 4th in her event and in the Year 9 boys event, Ubay (TRGA) finished a very strong 9th overall.  Particular mention must also go to Abi and Luke from Farnley, who finished 16th and 8th respectively in their very competitive Year 10 races, raced over 5 minutes (a long time when you’re sprinting!).
